Community action forum (CAF) training December 2018

Community Action Forums (CAFS) are undergoing training. They were trained on the following topics; • Organizational management • Organization Strategy • Organization Structure • CAF constitution Writing • Introduction of Community Action Forum (CAF) • Roles and responsibilities of CAF members • Procedural Guidelines • Community safety The training was conducted in Kismayo the three CAFs established in Wamo, Halgan and Alanley. The community action forum is a group established by SWSO with funding support from Saferworld to work on community safety in the areas they are designated. They work with the local authority, the police and the community members to ensure bottom up approach to community safety.

CAF and PAC familiarization event December 2018

Community action forum (CAF) and police advisory committee (PAC) familiarization meeting held in Kismayo hotel in March by SWSO and Saferworld. This meeting was for the purpose of ensuring CAF and PAC to work together on community safety and build their relationships. This was also for enhanced consultation on community safety and working with Jubaland police.

Election of officials PAC officialsDecember 2018

PAC voting to elect their officials (chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary and treasurer). The voting was by show of hands on a majority basis in a meeting. The members elect a management committee after they drafted their constitution to guide them accomplish the objectives for which they were established. The process was overseen by SWSO with support from Saferworld

Regional cross CAF learning November 2018

District cross CAF learning event held at Harwanaag Hotel in November 2018. This was meant for the three CAFs to learn from each other and present their achievements since they started working on community safety. It has given the CAFs the opportunity to have an interactive session with each other and share the approaches to resolving community safety issues and the lessons learnt from their engagement on community safety. The event was facilitated by SWSO staff/Saferworld project coordinator and funded by Saferworld

Police advisory committee training October 2018

Police advisory committee (PAC) being trained on accountability, PAC roles and responsibilities in October 2018 at harwanaag Hotel by SWSO and funding support from Saferworld . Police Advisory Committee is a group which was established to work with the police on detainee rights and hold regular consultation with the police on improving the detainee conditions in detention facilities through bi weekly collection of data and reporting. The group also creates awareness in the community to ensure reduced crime.

World International Peace Day September 2018

Kismayo women peace platform participated in a procession to mark world International peace day which was commemorated on 21 September 2018. The platform members were in the center stage to organize and mobilize the participants for this event through support of SWSO and funding by LP

Qandal Reconciliation of Clans March 2018
